Hello friends! When I last left you, I was telling you all about this great furniture piece that my neighbor had set out by the curb, free for the taking! A beautiful buffet from probably the 50’s or 60’s. Some damage but nothing I couldn’t work with. She only needed a few minor repairs and some TLC. After a couple of days of contemplation, I decided that the distressed look would work well with this particular piece since there was some damage that I couldn’t repair to the finish. Here are the steps I took:
How many times have I said, I simply can’t pass up free stuff people have set out by the curb? Probably over a thousand times. I always look and think of all the things I could do with that piece. How can I just let it sit out there…in the sun…the cold…the rain! Well, you see where I’m going, right? If it weren’t for my husband, I would have zero self-control and we would have no room to walk in our house. I feel about those furniture pieces like I feel about puppies! I want them all!
Do you have a patio, deck, porch, or balcony? Are you wanting to spruce it up but are unsure of how to start? In this blog, I will give you five things to consider as you are planning your outdoor space.
Okay, if you have been with me for a while, you know the story of our front yard makeover. Two weekends, long hours, little money (thankfully!) and big changes! Loved the way that project went. However, as with most projects, one will almost always lead to another and another and another….
When we last visited, I was telling you how updating the small front patio of our house had led to fixing up the adjoining flower bed, plant shelf, pots, and yard lights. After doing all of this, that part of the yard made the rest of the yard look worse than it did before. So, what to do?! Move on to the rest of the yard of course!
So when I left you last, I had just completely redone the little front patio that we have on our house. This is where the whole front yard project started. You know how it is, you update one or two things and that makes other things around it look tired and old. The next thing you know; you’re making your way slowly around your whole yard! This is exactly what happened to us and over two weekends, we completely cleaned up, weeded, planted, weeded, removed trees, weeded, painted, and weeded some more! Here is where the outside project went next….
Why is it whenever we have people coming to stay in our homes, we suddenly have the desire to take on projects that we have put off for a long time? And I’m not simply talking cleaning the bathmat or changing the shower curtain liner; no, I’m talking about BIG Projects…. like…?
