The Redesign Habit

HERE'S THE PROOF! THE POWER OF COLOR

Hi everyone!  I know it may seem that I spend a majority of my time blogging about color and how it can really change the way a space will feel.  That’s because it’s such a powerful tool to have at your disposal whether you’re completely remodeling a space, or you just want to refresh or update your space. So if this interests you, please read on!

For this blog, I’ve done four different renderings of the same kitchen.  I’ve left all the furnishings, cabinets, flooring, and space planning the same on all the renderings.  The only thing I changed out was the color palette.  I didn’t even change what colors I used (with the exception of the finish on the cabinets; I simply changed out which colors were used on which surfaces).

This exercise is simply to show you how much different a space can feel by simply changing out your color palette or even just rearranging the palette you already have.  It’s really interesting.  When you can see the comparisons side by side, I think some of you may be surprised at which rendering you like the best.  I even was surprised by my final choice!

Remember that color can do many things to your space.  Make it feel bigger, smaller, warmer, cooler, lighter, darker, energized, or subdued and relaxed.  These are a whole lot of things to consider to be sure but how amazing is it that you can totally give a space a whole new feel and look through something as simple and wallet-friendly as a couple of cans of paint and maybe some new accessories?

I can tell you throughout my life, I have relied heavily on color to make a tired space feel fresh and new again!  Okay, enough yammering…. here are the four different renderings, two similar camera shots of each one.  Which one appeals to you the most?

I hope you enjoyed this simple exercise and it helps you maybe open your mind up a bit the next time you want to make a change in your space. Remember how different you can make the look and feel of your space by simply changing the color palette.

Now, what will you do next to love where you live?
